Over the past year, Kevin Reese, Donna Ray Norton, folks from the Spring Creek Community Center, and I have been working together on a project we’re proud to finally share. The Appalachian Memory Project: Spring Creek, NC – Volume 1 book is now complete, and we’ll be placing the print order this week so copies arrive in time for our launch event on Saturday, February 21.
The book brings together a rich collection of memories, stories, and photographs from elders and other members of the Spring Creek community. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to sit down with Donna Ray, Kevin, and me to share their experiences and help make this project possible.
Because we were able to complete the project well under budget, we’re excited to share that work is already underway on a companion volume focused on Ebbs Chapel, and we’re hopeful to return to Spring Creek for a Volume 2 as well.
If you contributed to the book, you’ll be able to pick up a complimentary copy at the launch event, made possible through the support of the Spring Creek Community Center. Additional copies will be available for purchase at the event, with proceeds benefiting the Community Center.
This project was made possible through a Dogwood Health Trust Digital Opportunities grant, which the Spring Creek Community Center dedicated to supporting this innovative community memory program.
