Maru’s Bhajia
A light crispy potato pakoda invented by a chap called “Maru” in Nairobi. This clever man also created a delicious chutney to accompany the fritters, made from cucumber, tomatoes and chillies
Mushkaki
Barbecued, skewered chicken in a tangy tandoori marinade.
Bunny chow
A South African dish. A small loaf, hollowed out and filled with spicy lamb curry
Kuku Paka
This is a lovely fragrant, coconut based curry from Mombasa, the coastal town where my parents grew up .
Mandazi
Light fluffy doughnuts made with coconut and flavoured with cardamom . A popular sweet street food snack. I will be serving these with coconut kulfi and pistachio crumble
