Join educators from Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge as they take over the library in celebration of shorebirds! Shorebird Day will feature a variety of interactive stations that highlight shorebirds including how to draw a shorebird, dress up as a shorebird, how to use binoculars, and more!
Stations:
• Shorebird drawing
• What do shorebirds eat? - featuring macroinvertebrates
• Physical adaptations - dress up like a shorebird to learn how our shorebird friends survive in their habitat
• What are shorebirds anyway? - view preserved specimens and talk about what makes these birds so unique
Additionally, there will be scheduled activities at the following times:
• 9:45am: Birding 101 - Students will learn to identify the different body parts of a bird, practice using binoculars, and then apply those skills through a practice course around the library
• 10:45 am: Shorebird and nature trivia session
• 11:45 am: Birding 101 - Students will learn to identify the different body parts of a bird, practice using binoculars, and then apply those skills through a practice course around the library
