Jitter House is pleased to bring you, all the way from Vermont, Ben Matthews!
Ben Matthews is a Vermont-based roots folk singer-songwriter who thrives on connecting people and places. His solo performances focus on the essentials: voice, guitar, banjo, and honest storytelling. With a background in river science and flood recovery, Ben’s songs reflect the landscapes he’s worked in—and the resilience of the people who live there.
Drawing from folk traditions but grounded in the present, Ben blends narrative, rhythm, and grit. His sets flow between reflective ballads and driving, high-energy songs, creating a dynamic live experience that feels both intimate and alive in the moment.
In addition to fronting the band Homemade Special, a Vermont folk-rock trio, Ben’s solo shows remain the clearest window into his artistry: raw, unvarnished, and deeply human.
Through a mix of original songs and familiar covers, Ben builds sets that feel both grounded and engaging. Whether reimagining a classic or performing his own material, he continues the folk tradition of songs made to be shared — music that speaks to resilience, place, and resilience, place, and the things that connect us, from the Green Mountains to the Cascades.
