🌺 🌟 What to Expect
✨ Grand Entry
Step into the heartbeat of the powwow as the arena comes alive with dancers in breathtaking regalia, tribal leaders, veterans, royalty, and honored guests from across Turtle Island and Moananuiākea. This ceremonial procession—guided by the drum and rooted in ancestral tradition—welcomes all into a sacred space of unity, respect, and shared purpose. Being invited into Grand Entry is a high honor, as it recognizes your place in the circle and your kuleana (responsibility) in carrying culture forward.
🌈 The Rainbow Circle
A sacred and affirming space where Indigenous 2SLGBTQIA+ are honored, uplifted, and celebrated. Here, you'll find heartfelt storytelling, powerful spoken word, cultural performances, and presentations that honor gender diversity, identity, and the long-standing presence of Two-Spirit roles in Indigenous societies. The Rainbow Circle is a beacon of aloha and inclusion, offering a safe, welcoming place for expression, connection, and joy.
📚 The Gathering Grounds
The intellectual and cultural pulse of the powwow, the Gathering Grounds hosts traditional knowledge keepers, historians, educators, and elders who offer teachings rooted in Indigenous lifeways. Through language demonstrations, oral histories, protocol explanations, and cultural talks, this space invites you to deepen your understanding and connection to Indigenous traditions, sovereignty, and the living wisdom of our ancestors.
🛍️ The Trading Circle
Immerse yourself in a vibrant artisan market featuring handcrafted jewelry, beadwork, regalia, carvings, clothing, and fine art created by Native and Indigenous creators and entrepreneurs. Inspired by ancestral trade routes and powwow vendor traditions, the Trading Circle exchanges stories, skills, and relationships alongside beautifully made cultural goods. Your purchases directly support Indigenous artists and their communities.
🌽 The Feasting Grounds
Follow the savory aromas to the Feasting Grounds, where Indigenous and local culinary traditions come together in one delicious experience. Savor classic powwow fare like frybread, alongside island-style dishes that reflect Hawaiʻi's multicultural foodways. This space nourishes body and soul, rooted in the spirit of hospitality and the belief that sharing food is sharing culture.
🌱 The Healing Circle
A tranquil and restorative space offering access to wellness resources, health screenings, mental health tools, Indigenous plant knowledge, and cultural healing practices. Whether through conversation, ceremony, or quiet reflection, the Healing Circle invites guests to engage in pathways of holistic well-being. Community partners and resource providers are here to support your journey—mind, body, and spirit.
🎭 Performances at the Bandstand
Throughout the day, the historic Kapiʻolani Park Bandstand will come alive with a dynamic lineup of performances by Indigenous artists from Hawaiʻi and across the globe. Intercultural collaborations, this stage offers a powerful platform for artistic expression, community celebration, and cross-cultural exchange, here, where the heartbeat of Moananuiākea meets the rhythms of Turtle Island.
