What is the European Day of Languages in Hong Kong?

Participants will get to learn 11 European languages on the day of the event, including Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. Visitors can learn handpicked words and phrases in a 3-minute session at each language booth and get a stamp in their “European language passport”. With five stamps collected in the passport, they can enter an exciting Lucky Draw to win language courses in French, German, and Italian.

12 European countries are participating the event this year : Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden!

The Speak Dating Event is a project organized by the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, the European Union National Institutes for Culture in Hong Kong (Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut and Istituto Italiano di Cultura) and the Dante Alighieri Society in Hong Kong, in collaboration with numerous European Consulates General in Hong Kong.

This special event takes place in Hong Kong for the twelfth time to celebrate the annual European Day of Languages. Foreign language skills help you breaking down cultural barriers and opening the door to new friendships and professional opportunities.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the European Day of Languages and the 12th anniversary of the Speak Dating Event in Hong Kong. Visitors have the chance to win a free language course (French, German or Italian) offered by the Alliance Française, Goethe-Institut and Dante Alighieri Society in Hong Kong, along with many other prizes!
