Bunnell Street Arts Center presents a pop-up concert with Matt Yaki, Bo Yaki and Mariah Stuart on Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 pm. Admission is $20 discount/$25 regular/$30 pay it forward.
Longtime friends Bo and Mariah were born in Homer, and raised studying and making music with Matt Yaki. Matt was a fixture of the Homer music scene in the 90’s and early aughts, who taught and performed extensively in Homer and helped raise a next generation of musicians. Yaki started teaching guitar while he was a student at the University of California, Davis. A multi-instrumentalist, he is just as comfortable on the drums as he is on the piano or bass. In 2007, Matt became music director of the Dunn School in California, continuing his commitment to nurturing budding musicians.
Bo Yaki has studied music, dance and visual art. She has been performing and playing out with Matt since she was 5, and professionally by the time she was 15. In addition to recording with Matt, she has been writing and sharing music on SoundCloud while pursuing her education and modeling/acting gig in Southern California.
Mariah Stuart, the eldest daughter of Sandy & Kira Stuart of Homer, has been performing and recording as Mariah Nicole in Chicago upon graduating from Columbia College in 2017. Still currently living in Chicago, Mariah looks forward to her annual summer visits to Alaska and is excited to perform at Bunnell as she did when she was a Homer youth.
The musical trio will share a selection of timeless contemporary and vintage standards, organically arranged with a voice and vibe forward attitude.
