Across five uplifting sessions, you’ll explore expressive techniques, colour choices, mark-making and composition — all designed to help you develop a painting style that feels natural and uniquely you.

Learn how artists simplify shapes and scenes
Understand how to design a balanced, intentional composition
Explore quick exercises that boost clarity and confidence in your work
Week 2: Creative Freedom & Loosening Up
🎨 Inspired by Joan Mitchell, Frank Bowling & expressive painters
Break out of “tight” painting with fun, freeing warm-up activities
Experiment with movement, energy and bold mark-making
Explore how to paint with flow instead of hesitation
Week 3: Creating Your Signature Colour Palette
🎨 Inspired by Rothko, Wayne Thiebaud, modern colourists
Discover the colours you naturally gravitate towards
Build a personalised 5–6 colour palette you can reuse again and again
Explore mood, harmony and how to make your work feel cohesive
Week 4: Style Through Texture, Marks & Composition
🎨 Inspired by Van Gogh, Hockney, expressive contemporary artists
Experiment with brushes, knives, edges and different paint applications
Learn how texture and mark-making express personality in your work
Discover how placement and composition help shape your artistic style
Week 5: Final Project – Your Style, Your Voice
Plan and paint your own artwork with guidance
Choose your subject and work with your personal palette
Bring your techniques together in a confident final piece
Finish with a supportive group share and celebration
