The Day of the Dead, it is a traditionally Mexican holiday to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost, observed annually each fall. Sugar skulls are intricate and fascinating often displayed and given as gifts during this holiday - with lots of colors, textures, and design. Often made of actual sugar, the term "sugar skulls" is now an inspiration for so many artists, including fused glass artists. We will get inspired by the culture of sugar skulls, then explore how to use fusible ingredients to create unique designs!
In this class, you will start with an already pre-cut skull shape (6x8), then add embellishments in glassline paint, bubbledots, stringers, and sheet glass. Minimal cutting required. Approx 2.5-3 hours to create. Your piece will then be kiln fired to 1400 degrees for a textured, glossy finish. Displays great on a wall, display chain included.
