Banks Rimpley is a 7 year old boy who attends 2nd grade at Holdrege Elementary School. Banks lives with his mom Sarah, dad Brandon, and his little sister Charlie out in the country. Banks is a very active boy and lives for everything outdoors and loves wrestling like his dad. On August 15th Banks and his family were informed he would need to undergo surgery on the base of his brain and on his spine to help decompress his Chiari malformation and to drain the syrinx that extended from his neck to his low back. On August 18th surgery was completed at Children’s Hospital in Omaha. The surgery went as planned and Banks will have his next brain and spine MRI in November to make sure they continue to function appropriately. During this process he was also diagnosed with moderate scoliosis. The goal is now for Banks to wear a TLSO brace 20hrs a day to help decrease the progression of the curves in his spine. Bank’s parents plan to start care at the Scoliosis Care Center in Oklahoma City later on in the school year. The Scoliosis Care Center will build customized stretching equipment, provide MRI guided bracing to get his spine as straight as possible, and offer frequent intense interventions in Oklahoma. They will have to travel to Oklahoma every 3-4 months for at least a weeks stay until Banks is done growing to do everything they can to avoid another major surgery. Unfortunately the Scoliosis Care Center is out of network for all insurance companies making the long term comprehensive treatment needed quite expensive. Banks has a fantastic attitude and phenomenal Faith in the path set in front of him. Nothing will slow his family down from attempting to help Banks continue to be the active little boy he is! Even if you can’t attend the benefit his family continues to appreciate all of the positive thoughts and prayers!
