Born in Montreal to Haitian parents, and now based in Sydney, 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞́𝐬𝐢𝐚 brings a rich blend of cultures into her music. Her French–Creole jazz style, shaped by her Haitian roots, French Canadian upbringing, and international career, creates a warm, soulful experience you won't forget. She’s a captivating performer — and an audience favorite at The Old Compass.

𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄́𝐒𝐈𝐀
𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞́𝐬𝐢𝐚 is a singer–songwriter and composer born in Montreal to Haitian parents. She began performing at age 14 in musicals, competitions, and national events.
She studied classical music, followed by communications, and later pursued vocal jazz at McGill University’s Conservatory of Music. During her college years, she entered Montreal’s underground electronic music scene, collaborating with DJs and appearing as a guest vocalist on several compilations, including Deadbeat’s New World Observer.
In 2004, she released her debut EP “Nostalgia”, a blend of fado, tango, bossa nova, and tzigane influences with a touch of electronic soundscapes.
Her latest EP, “Athésia & the Gentlemen”, was launched during her 2010 South American tour, with performances in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru.
Athésia performs her own unique compositions whilst honouring classic jazz, French, Bossa Nova and Haitian standards all with a jazzy style.
