Join us for our Summer Fete on 14th September where we celebrate our beautiful community nature garden and growing spaces with music, dance, crafts, food and drink!
This is a free event – please come along and bring family and friends! Bring your cup not your car! If you bring your own cup you’ll get a discount off all drinks that would otherwise be served in a disposable cup. The event is less than 5 minutes walk from Hitchin rail station and associated bus stops.
There’ll be live music including Hitchin All Stars community choir, Brazilian carnival percussion from Garden City Samba, belly-dancing from Horizons Dance, singer songwriter Yolanda Gabrielle, Portuguese-influenced trio Tritium and last but most defintely not least, the very wonderful Imajica Theatre with their amazing new children’s show – Coral Cove Adventure!
There will be garden tours – 11.30am for the community garden and forest garden and 1.15pm for our growing spaces up at the allotments where you can see our new summer house, hugelkultur beds and cut flower plot. Book your place here!
Do wander round the community nature garden where there’ll be a display of progress on our new mosaic for the centre of the meeting space, and a special painted rocks nature trail for children.
There’s also a nature photography exhibition in the Pavilion curated by Hitchin Camera Club, a family cycle ride finishing at 11am at the Rec – details to follow – plus a youth football game at the Ransoms pitch. And this year we’re excited to welcome some new activities to our wellbeing area – as well as family yoga sessions there will be demonstrations of willow weaving and basketry from willow artist Hazel Godfrey, green woodworking from Ali the Wood Turner and beautiful stained glass art from Hicca Glass!
Food and drink will be provided by local favourites Sam’s Pizza, Ah-Ahh Spuds, and The Savvy Herbalist, hot and cold drinks from Cafe2U, cakes and pastries by Dopa Delights, icecreams by Ice Baby, best before bargains from the Food Rescue Hub and fruit smoothies from the Growing Ability pedal-powered smoothie bike! Come hungry, leave happy! No mobile bar this year, but you’re welcome to bring your own alchoholic drinks to the event under our current licensing arrangements.
Stalls will include the usual Triangle Garden stalls including kids crafts and activities, plus Imajica Theatre, Ali the Woodcarver, Hazel Godfrey Willow, Hicca Glass, Culturewood, Hitchin Nature Network, Tuuli Parker Jewellery, The Yoga Shed, Crystabel Crafter, Nesa de Niro Raging Diva, Vicki Baker Creates, Dr Bike, NCT, Vintage Games, Hera Gems, Younique, Glowbooth facepainting, NHerts Beekeepers, All You Need is Yarn, The Wildlife Trusts, NHFriends of the Earth/Take the Jump, plus Triangle Garden’s welly wanging range!
