Our neighbors are also planning festivities for that day that will include mead tasting at The Bottle Shop, pasta tasting at Kai Pasta and a sampling of foods from local farmers and makers with Locavore. It’s shaping up to be a really fun day. Just as a note it is also the day of the lighted Christmas parade, so the store will close at 4:30 before the street is closed.
The shop local concept is especially important when living on an island in the middle of a vast ocean. Small businesses are collectively the largest employers, providing jobs to your friends, family, and neighbors. They contribute the most to local infrastructure, schools and charities. The backbone of our community is a network of locally owned businesses; from large grocery chains, restaurants, and auto dealerships; to boutiques, mechanics, hairdressers, and the artist or crafter making one of a kind creations. At Basically Books we seek out locally made or designed products to feature in our store.
We hope to see you there!
