Permaculture design is an approach to land management and settlement design that mimics natural ecosystems to create sustainable human systems. It applies a set of design principles to create productive, resilient, and regenerative systems, from small gardens to entire communities, focusing on the ethical principles of care for the Earth, care for people, and sharing surplus. The design process involves observing an environment and creating a plan that connects elements to meet needs, using whole-systems thinking, appropriate technology, and a combination of traditional knowledge and modern science.
