Award-winning writer/director Jeff Feuerzeig details the life and world of the late Daniel Johnston, an astonishingly prolific musician and artist whose recordings (many on hand-made cassette tapes early in his songwriting career) garnered the attention and admiration of high-profile musicians as they were shared across the indie rock community. Johnston's struggles with mental illness - bipolar disorder and schizophrenia - led to manic episodes and erratic behavior that directly impacted his artistic output, propelling him to explore themes on light/darkness, love/loss, and, of course, mental problems. A chronicle of a singer/songwriter compelled to create against the odds, this one is sure to inspire no matter your walk in life.
