All are welcome to enjoy a complementary home cooked Thanksgiving meal at Open Door Ministries!
In need? our cafeteria will be open to the public from 11am-1pm for lunch and 4pm-6pm for dinner on Thanksgiving Day!
Last year, ODM served roughly 600 home-cooked thanksgiving meals to our neighbors who had no family to go home to, provided 1000+ meal packages to individuals in need in our community. More than 100 volunteers came together to make the day warmer for many. This year, we need your support to create another memorable thanksgiving! Please consider making a donation or becoming a volunteer!
Volunteer needs:
1. Greeting & Guest Assistance
• Welcome guests warmly as they arrive.
• Direct guests to seating areas or dining rooms.
• Offer assistance to elderly or disabled guests.
2. Serving Food & Beverages
• Plate and serve meals with care and kindness.
• Refill drinks (water, tea, coffee).
• Ensure each guest receives a complete meal.
3. Dining Room Support
• Monitor tables and assist guests with needs.
• Engage in friendly conversation.
• Clear dishes and wipe tables between guests.
4. Food Preparation Assistance
• Help with prep: cutting, plating, portioning.
• Organize desserts and side dishes.
• Follow all hygiene and safety guidelines.
5. Carry-Out / To-Go Meals
• Prepare and pack to-go meal boxes.
• Label meals and include utensils.
6. Clean-Up Crew
• Wash dishes and sanitize surfaces.
• Break down tables and manage trash.
• Leave the area clean and organized.
7. Donation & Pantry Support (If Needed)
• Sort donated food items.
• Help stock pantry shelves.
8. Hospitality & Encouragement
• Offer kindness, respect, and encouragement.
• Uphold the mission of service with gratitude
Donation Needs: Turkeys, Hams, Stuffing/ Dressing, Corn, Green Beans, Macaroni Noodles, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls, Cornbread, Corn Meal, Tams, Butter, Shredded Cheeses, Block Cheeses, Broan Sugar, Apple Pies, Sweet Potato Pies, Pumpkin Pies, Whole Milk, Evaporated Milk.
