The History of Downtown Hickory: A Presentation

Have you wondered what was originally on the site where BellaAge now stands? The town of Hickory was established just a short walk from our front door, so there are certainly fascinating stories and events associated with the site.

Join us in the BellaCommons Loft, where presenter Carl Shatley will explore the rich history of the area that BellaAge now occupies. Once a lively fresh market beside the railroad tracks, the location has deep roots in Hickory's legacy of furniture, textiles, and community.

Carl Shatley is an accomplished educator, lecturer, and artist. He holds a Master of Arts degree in History from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from Greensboro College.
