As part of its 5K series, the Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department will host the second annual Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K and Dog Festival this September.
The Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K race will begin at Winkler Park on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m.
This race is for dog lovers, as all participants are required to run with their dogs along a 3.1-mile loop consisting of both paved and wooded trails.
All dogs must have proof of vaccinations and be leashed for the duration of the event.
Before and after the 5K race, runners, dogs, and families can enjoy the Ruff, Ruff, Run Dog Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The festival will have food trucks, music, dog vendors, and dog obedience demonstrations. A special version of dog yoga will be held at 12:30 p.m.

The Ruff, Ruff, Run 5K and Dog Festival are sponsored by SynergyLabs, Allegra Marketing, Civic Federal Credit Union, Cooks Sports and All Hearts Animal Hospital.
The Hickory 5K Series is presented by Frye Regional Medical Center, the Official Healthcare Provider of the Hickory 5K Series.
