Calving Course

This course offers new knowledge for the inexperienced or a refresher for experienced herdsperson.

The course has a large preventative focus but also provides guidance on what to do when things go wrong. We focus on the last third of pregnancy through to the calf at one month of age.

Topics covered include cow nutrition, trace elements, body condition, metabolic disorders, difficult calving’s, calf health and colostrum management and calf diseases such as neonatal scour.
