Building Biodiversity in Your Piece of the Planet presented by Elyse Jurgen
Elyse Jurgen of Waxwing EcoWorks Co. will be our featured speaker at next Monday’s meeting at the Brownstone. Elyse is certified as a Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional and Ecological/Permaculture Designer, and also holds an Ecological Gardening Certification from Mt. Cuba Center, among others.
Her love for rekindling the human-nature connection formed in grade school nature journaling and high school environmental clean-up projects, as well as family trips exploring our National Parks. She studied abroad in South Africa, where she learned the value of community-based conservation, and brought that experience to her teaching in the Lancaster area. Her design skills and her passion for restoring the environment led her to form Waxwing EcoWorks Co.,
whose mission is “ to rebuild biodiversity in human spaces, by providing hands-on ecological gardening experiences for all ages.”
In “ Rebuilding Biodiversity in Your Piece of the Planet” Elyse will share with us how she and her professional team partner with landowners to maximize the potential for enhancing human well-being and supporting dwindling wildlife populations. Join us to hear about this vital topic! Visit Waxwing Ecoworks for more information on our speaker and her work.
