Acclaimed saxophonist, Joel Helfand, will be performing at 3 p.m. September 14 in the sanctuary of Trinity Presbyterian Church located at 900 Blythe Street.
The performance will support the 43rd annual Henderson County Hunger Walk. Information about the walk is available at

A graduate of Chicago Musical College, Helfand ran a successful band for many years in the Chicago area. Among the entertainers he worked with included Doc Severinson, Sarah Vaughn, Tex Beneke, Gerry Mulligan, Helen O’Connell and Red Skelton.
Joel retired to Hendersonville in 2005 and has since worked on staff at the Flat Rock Playhouse, Asheville Community Theatre, Hendersonville Symphony, Brevard Philharmonic, Asheville Community Band, Brevard Community Band, and was a backup for the Temptations at the Biltmore Estate.
Joel says he never saw a note he did not like!
There will be no admission charged. All proceeds from a free will offering will be used by the Hunger Coalition to support 12 area agencies who provide food to our neighbors in need.
