Monarch Migration Mysteries

You're invited to attend one of Audubon State Park’s longest-running programs—the Monarch Migration Mysteries! For over 30 years, park naturalists have been tagging Monarch butterflies for conservation. You can be a citizen-scientist with us! With this species being nearly endangered, it’s all the more important to learn about them, including their mysterious migration journey. Attend the program on one of two dates—either Sept. 13 or Sept. 20th at the Audubon Museum. There will be an educational presentation at 8 AM, then take your own car to reconvene at Sloughs WMA to capture, tag, and release Monarchs. Everything’s provided, and we’ll show you what to do! Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. The program should conclude by 11:30 AM. Cost: $5/person; discounts for FOA members and larger families; children under age 4 are free. Inclement weather may cancel the program. Please watch social media for announcements.
