Grand Design – Swedish Heavy Metal Legends

Formed in 2006 by vocalist and producer Pelle Saether, Grand Design has become a force in the world of heavy metal with their signature 80’s-inspired sound. Their debut album, Time Elevation (2009), gained massive acclaim, earning awards like ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Song’ from BeRockRadio and securing top 10 spots for Best Album of the Year. The band’s live performances, including a standout show at FireFest in Nottingham, UK, solidified their reputation.

With Idolizer (2011), Grand Design honed their formula for modern 80’s rock, delivering anthems like “Get On With Action” and “Your Love’s A Runaway.” Their momentum continued with festival appearances alongside legends like Twisted Sister and Lita Ford. By 2014, their third album, Thrill of the Night, became a fan-favorite, earning “Best Album of 2014” from RockEyez.

Through lineup changes and new releases like Viva La Paradise (2018) and V (2020), Grand Design has remained true to their mission: to keep the rawk n’ roll spirit alive. Their latest album, RAWK (2023), cements their legacy as one of Sweden’s premier heavy metal acts. Grand Design continues to prove that 80’s-inspired rock belongs in the spotlight, both on record and on stage.
