First Day Poetry Hike

Spend a morning reading and composing poetry in nature while hiking Government Canyon State Natural Area.

The event begins with a short discussion about and reading of poetry. Then, we’ll hike the 1.25 mile Discovery Trail, stopping and writing along the way.

This hike is open to ages 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Though the hike is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area apply. To save time at the Fee Booth and ensure entrance on crowded days, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass. Please note: reserving a Day Pass does not guarantee a spot for you on the hike! The hike is limited to the first 10 participants to check-in with the hike leader.
