Join the staff of our DCC Education Team for Depot Discovery Day on Saturday, September 20, starting at 1 p.m.
This month's reading will be "Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshal" by Vaunda Micheaux Nelson.
Theme: In observance of "United States Marshal's Bicentennial Day."
Special Presenter: U.S. Marshal Jeremy Hammons, a Deputy U.S. Marshal and public information officer for the U.S. Marshals Service in the Eastern District of Arkansas, will discuss the life and times of Marshal Bass Reeves. Hammons has dedicated considerable research to the history of Bass Reeves, a famous African American Deputy U.S. Marshal who served in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Reeves is important to both Arkansas and U.S. History.
