WHAT: Workshop held by Townsville Writers & Publishers Centre
ABOUT: · Exploring words basics: What is the ribbon? How to change your margins. How to use fonts, paragraphs, and what does widow and orphan mean? How to insert page numbers. When to use page breaks? What does Review mean? What does header and footer mean and how to use it.
· Different ways to view your document.
· There will also be exercises of formatting a written piece into different layouts, similar to following submission guidelines.
Handouts will include a brief explanation for major commands and a list of short cuts.

PRESENTER: Alyson Walton
PRESENTERS BIO: Alyson Walton has been a member of the TWPC for many years. Although she has always been writing, her passion ignited when working at a small mining town newspaper where she had the opportunity to write a regular soapbox column.
Alyson has written several novels and novellas, but it wasn’t until last year she published her first novel, a fantasy, Black Blood and Stone. She is also the host for the QWC Writing Saturday held at the Riverway Library.
Alyson has been delivering mini workshops on various writing topics for Townsville Writers and Publishers Centre.
She was invited by the Townsville City Libraries to deliver a Character Writing Workshop - workshop during the Festival of Writers and was a guest on a speaker panel at the Douglas Shire in August 2025
