How to make a gingerbread house from scratch!
6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18
(Please register ahead of time with the library. 608-854-2952)
Participants will receive handouts including recipes, tips, and sample patterns.
This workshop is for adults, but a child accompanied by an adult is welcome.
As a group, we will decorate and assemble one building, to be used as part of the Gingerbread House Fundraiser* for Family Promise of Grant County.
There will be demonstrations on: drafting & using a pattern, rolling & cutting out dough, baking, making royal icing, and assembling & decorating the house.
The workshop will be led by Sandye Voight, who has been making gingerbread houses from scratch for a dozen years. As a Family Promise coordinator in the Cuba City/Benton area, she started the gingerbread house fundraiser and began teaching gingerbread workshops in 2022. Among her builds are replicas of the Hazel Green UMC, the Benton PM Church, and the (soon-to-be built) Benton Library, Museum and Community Center.
