Progressive Acoustics and the Kelly Center are proud to present celebrated flatpicking guitarist Jake Eddy. A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Jake is known for absorbing the styles of masters like Tony Rice, Doc Watson, and Norman Blake—and shaping them into something unmistakably his own. He began performing professionally at the age of 14, touring with bluegrass legend Melvin Goins. Jake's self-titled debut album, Jake Eddy, features top-tier artists like Bryan Sutton, Rob Ickes, and Kenny Smith. He’s been praised as a “Flatpick Wizard” and has performed multiple times on the Grand Ole Opry. In addition to touring, he teaches, does session work, and records. His 2025 album Heirloom reflects his deep commitment to tradition and musical exploration.
The Fretboard Journal calls him "one of the most exciting young guitarists".
Bluegrass Today dubbed him a "Flatpick Wizard"
Bluegrass Unlimited praised his "tremendous musical imagination"
From a Bluegrass Unlimited Album Review: Eddy "approaches this project as a musician first," and that he demonstrates abilities comparable to masters like David Grier or Steve Kaufman, displaying taste and poise along with gorgeous guitar tones Bluegrass Unlimited.
General Recognition: Eddy's playing has been described as having "otherworldly chops and positively metronomic sense of time," with an ability to infuse jazz elements into bluegrass Yamahaguitardevelopment
It's also worth noting that major bluegrass musicians like Grammy-winning Bryan Sutton, Rob Ickes, and Kenny Smith appeared on his self-titled debut album, which speaks volumes about the respect he's earned among top-tier musicians in the genre.
Jake recently toured with Noam Pilkelny.
