Mitchel Ahern on large scale printing at Whittier Homestead

Mitchel Ahern, our Director of Operations, will be giving a short talk this Friday at 2 pm at the Whittier Homestead in Haverhill about the 240-foot-long, letterpress-printed, fabric scroll that he created to honor Whittier protégé Charlotte Fortin, who was a noted 19th century abolitionist and educator of color in the 19th century. The scroll feature is two quotes from Fortin. Mitchel will describe his artistic process with examples of fabric printing, and wooden type, as well as the story of the scroll and how it came to be where it is now.
