Getting to know you! A learning journey through self portraiture.
Dates and times - 5th, 12th and 19th September 2025 – 1-4pm
Cost - £30 per session, maximum 10 people
Come and explore the wonders of you and learn how to make exciting and expressive self portraits. Over 3 sessions we will play with mark-making and discover fun and exciting ways of using drawing and mixed media.
To accompany the sessions there will be resource notes with some ideas to spark and stimulate your creative thinking. …..And because looking at different artists work is so important, there will be suggestions of amazing artists to explore , who have made inspirational self portraits.
Session 1
Drawing, but not as you know it!
In this session we will journey into the wonderful world of mark making to create expressive and personal self portraits.
As we go through the session we will learn to reflect on the work and find our own preferences.
Session 2
Building your portrait with collage
In this session we will start to build the surface of your work with collage. We will explore building layers, using shapes in drawing and working with found collage pieces to create exciting textures.
Session 3
Go for it!
In this session we will delve deeper into what your drawing, mark making and mixed media preferences are. Using a combination of your favourite techniques from sessions 1 & 2 you will be able to take your self expression to the next level.

Ann Fletcher-Williams is an artist living in Cardigan, West Wales. She was born in the Midlands and then trained as a painter at Sunderland University and has a fine art degree. She spent over 30 years in the North East of England working in galleries, museums and for Arts Council England.
Ann has had a long relationship with West Wales, and finally moved to Cardigan in 2022. Her work is about belonging and her relationship with the majestic hills, rugged coast and endlessly fascinating shoreline of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. She is interested in connection with the land, memory, personal history and identity.
