Full Day Polymer Clay Art Workshop
Join me to make a fun piece of jewellery or a keyring or bookmark that will make you smile or the person you decide to gift it to.
Time: 9.30 to 4.30
Workshops sometimes over run by half an hour depending on what people decide to make.
Aims of the day:
• To produce a piece of jewellery e..g a necklace/pendant/earrings or bracelet that you have designed from a basic piece of clay using canes made by you.
• To have fun in a relaxed and friendly environment.
In the morning you will make some canes to use on the designs you create in the afternoon:
Skills shared:
• Being able to use basic tools effectively.
• Properly conditioning your clay.
• Designing a simple bulls eye cane.
• Producing a simple skinner blend (a slab of clay that smoothely transitions from one colour to another) and use it in a cane.
• To be able to cut a cane without distorting your design.
• How to reduce a cane to the desired thinness.
In the afternoon you will use your canes to design beads and create a wearable item or a keyring or bookmark. It is likely that there will be time for you to create up to 3 items, depending on what you choose to make.
Skills shared:
• Slicing a cane evenly without distorting your design too much.
• Making beads and pendant beads using your canes to design and embellish them.
• Burnishing a pattern onto a slab of clay.
• Finishing off beads after baking.
• Assembling beads using appropriate jewellery findings.
The workshop costs include all materials and light refreshments at Hilton Court tea room.
