In partnership with the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy, our Haz Mat Operations course is designed to be delivered as a “Traditional” course, taking place at the Haughton Fire Department.
This course provides the emergency responder with the knowledge to respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response at the site. The knowledge acquired should enable the responder to contain the release and prevent exposures of the hazardous substance. Practical exercises and teamwork are included in this course.
Because of this, the attending student must possess full PPE, including SCBA.
A hard copy of the textbook IS NOT included in the cost of this course though an eBook and chapter quizzes will be provided through our online classroom.
Certification: Though Haughton Fire will be hosting a certification exam at the conclusion of this course, it will be the responsibility of the registering department to submit a test request form for their participating members, utilizing ACADIS. Additionally, practical skill evaluations will be done as part of the class, through mandatory weekly assignments.
Needed Materials: Textbook; Full PPE, SCBA
Recommended Materials: Laptop or other mobile device & note-taking materials
Payment: This class is being presented in partnership with the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy and thus will have no cost associated with tuition. Your department will however be charged for the associated certification test, which will be billed by FETA.
