What can a school board really do? More than you think! Ahead of November’s election, join former Hartford Board of Education members for a lively conversation on the power and impact of school boards.
Student achievement is—and must remain—the primary agenda for Hartford. As policymakers, boards have a critical role in making sure students gain the knowledge and skills they need to thrive as productive citizens, and that they can demonstrate that learning on state and local measures of success.
From setting policies and allocating resources to creating the conditions for teaching and learning, school boards are at the center of improving outcomes for students. They hold schools accountable, provide structure for community participation, and help ensure schools meet state and federal goals. Just as importantly, boards serve as a bridge between schools and the public—building understanding, trust, and commitment to long-term improvement.
Join former Hartford Board of Education members Eddie Perez, Rich Wareing, Karen Taylor, and Craig Stallings for a lively discussion on the power and responsibility of school boards, the challenges they face, and how their decisions shape the future of our schools and community.
