The Mudcloth Xchange: Mito Camara West African Dance Class
The third installment of our cultural arts exchange series brings us back to the rich diversity of Guinea, West Africa! Workshops are open to all levels (ages 10+).
Born in Conakry, Guinea, master drummer Mito Camara brings decades of experience as one of the world’s leading ambassadors of Guinean percussion & movement. Trained from childhood by renowned drummers Ibrahim “Cozi” Camara and Aboubacar “Fatou Abou,” Mito spent over a decade touring internationally with the legendary national companies Les Percussions de Guinée and Les Ballets Africains, where he became lead drummer at just 24 years old. These historic ensembles helped shape Guinea’s global cultural identity and fueled its post-colonial liberation movement. Now based in Hartford, Connecticut, Mito will electrify The Mudcloth Xchange on September 28, 2025, at 5 PM with the powerful rhythms, history, and spirit of Guinea.
