4th Annual Kwanzaa Karamu

You’re warmly invited to gather with us for the 4th Annual Kwanzaa Karamu, presented by Afro Hrs x North Hartford Cultural District ✨

Join us on December 27 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at RiseUP for Arts in Hartford, CT, as we come together to honor culture, community, and shared tradition during Day Two of Kwanzaa, Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) 🖤❤️💚

This intergenerational celebration is designed as a space for reflection, joy, and connection. Guests can expect an afternoon and evening filled with Afrobeats, live performances, community-centered programming, food offerings, and a curated vendor marketplace highlighting local Black and minority-owned businesses.

The Kwanzaa Karamu will also include a traditional lighting ceremony led by a community elder with youth participation, creating a meaningful moment for all ages to engage in the principles of Kwanzaa together. A Kid’s Corner will be available throughout the event, offering games, arts and crafts, and culturally rooted activities for younger guests.

Music will be curated by Afro Hrs, with live performances and a DJ set that reflect the spirit of celebration, cultural pride, and unity. Food options will be available in a community-style format, with offerings designed to be accessible and welcoming for families and elders alike.

This year’s collaboration with the North Hartford Cultural District, along with the Hartford Renaissance District as our Diamond+ Sponsor for the 2024–2025 season, allows us to expand the experience while centering community care, cultural expression, and economic empowerment.
