IBM 1401, A User’s Manual, ble første gang fremført i 2002, og var resultatet av et samarbeid mellom komponist Jóhann Jóhannsson og danser/koreograf Erna Ómarsdóttir.
Arbeidet med å gjenopplive dette anerkjente stykket var godt i gang da Jóhann Jóhannsson gikk bort i februar 2018.
Et par av Jóhannssons venner og kolleger har nå gått inn for den musikalske delen av stykket, og med sin omarbeiding av stykket minnes Erna Ómarsdóttir og Ólafur Björn Ólafsson en mangeårig samarbeidspartner og en kjær venn.

IBM 1401, A User's Manual, a collaboration between composer Jóhann Jóhannsson and dancer/choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir was first performed in 2002.
In 2017 Erna and Jóhann started talking about the possibility of reviving this much acclaimed piece. Both artists were very excited about revisiting a successful co-operation, wheels were brought into motion and performances had already been scheduled when, sadly, Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away in February 2018.
A couple of Jóhannsson’s friends and colleagues now have stepped in for the musical part of the piece.
With her re-working of the piece, Erna Ómarsdóttir commemorates a longtime collaborator and a dear friend.
