The best way to explain the reason for this benefit is from Wendy and Dan themselves so yes, this is Wendy’s post she made on her personal page!
On June 25th Dan went in for what we assumed would be a routine gallbladder procedure. This led to him being admitted and transferred to BGH and a 4 week stay and multiple surgeries. On July 2nd he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. And so began our next chapter in this crazy life. With another 3 week hospital admission In August and 2 more surgeries he Is home and chemo has started.
As many of you know, due to his military service, Dan has dealt with Multiple Sclerosis, PTSD, Crohn’s disease and now is bravely facing Pancreatic Cancer which is directly related to his exposure to the burn pits and toxins during his deployments in the Gulf War. Through all these challenges his focus has always been on the safety and well-being of his family and friends.
This journey has been filled with challenges which include a bile duct drain, J-tube so he can maintain some nutrition and a G-tube to drain his stomach periodically, but also with incredible moments of love and support from people like you.
Dan is not only a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, but also a proud Army veteran who served our country with honor. His strength, courage, and commitment to service have always defined who he is. His strength has now become a fight for his life. Although we don’t know what each day holds we do know he will fight through chemo and all the challenges this diagnosis has for him. 💜
To know them is to love them, it’s just that simple! The best way to help Dan and Wendy is to love and support them through all of this!! The next best way is to help ease the financial burden so they can concentrate on the most important thing which is Dan kicking this beast out!! Dan and Wendy are ALWAYS doing for others so now it’s OUR turn to do for them!
We wanted to get this date out early so you all can mark it on your calendars, but there will be a lot more information to come. This benefit will include food , a cash bar, door prize, 50/50, basket raffle, music from That 80’s Hairband, and of course his friends from the bagpipe band will be playing!!
