into the dark: a winter solstice breath + cacao journey

Many of us have been taught from an early age that the darkness is frightening, scary, and where danger lives.

But what if that wasn't true?

What if darkness was a place of endless potential & possibility? A place of beginnings? A place of peace, rest & reciprocity?

How would that change your world?

And what would it take to allow that change to occur?

While this inevitably is a solo journey within yourself, it is also one that can ease the nervous system when done in community, alongside others who are also finding their way...

So this year, we gather on the eve of the Winter Solstice, often recognized as the "darkest" day of the year — to journey into the darkness — alongside our dear friend & profound facilitator Haley of Satori Breathwork.

We begin with a cacao ritual, honoring the Mayan teachers & the spirits of this land who have often called on fire, the heart, and the darkness for protection & remembering. With reverence to what has been, we will open our own hearts up to the healing that is possible beyond the light of day.

Once we feel ready, we "practice" this work of tending to our own darkness with eye masks to shield the sun, movement to unlock the presence of our own bodies, and intuitive guidance to get curious, contemplating where our fear has held us back, and how it has served us.

Then, as the sun begins to set, we journey inward — as deep as we feel safe to go — utilizing transformative breathwork to release layers & stories of the beliefs that have kept us from finding the gifts that the darkness has always wanted to provide us with.

When we emerge, the night sky will be illuminated with stars, or as poet Hafiz once said, "The million candles in the sky are lit and singing," — ready for us to emerge with confidence, tenderness, and a newfound reverence for the profound medicine that the darkness has to offer each of us.

We will close in circle, sharing the wisdom we've encountered, and intentions of continuing to befriend the darkness in these winter months.

Optionally, stay for a nourishing, seasonal 3-course meal by candlelight, lovingly dreamed with the intention of integrating this powerful work together in communion & in celebration around the tables.
