2025 JOHN B. BERNARD ANNUAL INVITATIONAL CENTERBOARD REGATTA
A FIVE RACE SERIES GOVERNED BY THE RACING RULES OF SAILING, CURRENT EDITION

DATES: October 4th and 5th, 2025
PLACE VIRGINIA INLAND SAILING ASSOCIATION YACHT CLUB on Smith Mountain Lake, Franklin Co. Virginia
CLASSES Flying Scot, Laser, Thistle, Lightning, Mobjack, Rebel, Sunfish, Wayfarer, Hobie 16 or any other class that registers three (3) or more boats.
Less than three boats of any class will race in a Universal Class using U.S. Sailing Association Portsmouth Handicaps.
JUNIORS: We will also have Laser races for Juniors 18 years old and under.

REGISTRATION FEE $38.00 per boat advance registration (before Sept. 15th)/ $42.00 per boat after Sept. 15th, USSA Member Discount.

Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available on the club bulletin board on the club deck and at the registration desk.
Courses to be sailed are windward-leeward, or a triangle or a combination of these.
Communications: VHF radios may be carried aboard.
As a courtesy, after the starting signal, the Race Committee will attempt to hail boats OCS or those that have not complied with RRS 30.1, using VHS Channel 78. The delay of hail, the order of hail, the lack of hail or the failure of a competitor to hear a hail shall not be grounds for redress. This changes RRS 62.1(a). Any other communication shall be an emergency only.
Scoring will be low point per RRS Appendix A, except all races will be scored. This changes to RRS A.2. Five races are scheduled with one race constituting the regatta.
Penalty: Appendix T to RRS shall apply. Sections A, B and C shall apply. Section D will not be used. This changes RRS 44, 60, 61, 62, 63, 65 and 66.
VISAYC is an informal family sailing club. Camping sites and showers are available.
