Program Overview:
HR leaders often carry significant responsibility for supporting employees during workplace crises but may be unsure of how best to help. This session will present 10 foundational crisis management concepts to help guide you.
Topics to be covered include employee needs during crises, communication strategies, basic guidelines regarding trauma and its impact, practical suggestions for leaders, and the importance of utilizing outside support when needed. Participants will have an opportunity to share lessons learned from past crises and to start preparing for future ones.
Speaker Bio:
Holly earned a BA from Juniata College, an MS from Johns Hopkins University, and has received specialized training from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Her career includes work in mental health and drug treatment settings, and 27+ years of supervisory and management experience in for-profit, non-profit, educational, and healthcare organizations. During her time as an EAP Coordinator, she responded to over 100 workplace Critical Incidents.
In her current role as the owner and consultant of Workplace Leadership Solutions, Holly specializes in helping HR and other organizational leaders navigate Critical Incidents, significant organizational changes, and other sensitive employee issues. Holly has many years of experience providing training and consultation on personnel issues such as workplace harassment, drug and alcohol use in the workplace, employee accountability, burnout and compassion fatigue, supervisory skills, and more.
Prior to her work helping organizations, Holly spent a decade working with individual trauma survivors and their loved ones. Her in-the-trenches work with that population has rooted her critical incident response work in compassion and a deep understanding of the individual and organizational impact of trauma.
Certification: This program is pending approval for 1 SHRM PDC. The Hanover Area Human Resources Association is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
