For this month's meeting, we'll be creating characters from scratch with random (and sometimes hilarious) prompts!
Dana’s cooking up a character creation workshop for the Mark Twain Birthday Bash (more on that below!) and is in need of some people to test it out on…that’s where you come in! Build a character on the spot utilizing random prompts. This workshop encourages you to think out of the box to make seemingly unrelated character traits into a fully realized person.
Workshop coordinator, as aforesaid, will be Dana Lockhart, current president of the guild and character-centric author. There’s generally two schools of thought when creating a story: 1) start with a character and then build a world around then, or 2) create a world and insert characters into it. Most of Dana’s stories start with character ideas and expand outward from there. Maybe your new character will help you create a new story!
The meeting will be Saturday, November 8th, at 5:30 P.M. at the Laura Hawkins house at 210 N. 5th Street, Hannibal, MO. There will be a sign on the door. Just let yourself in!Please do not arrive earlier than 4:30pm. The building will not be open until 4:30. You are, however, welcome to show up early at 4:30 for business hours! The meeting is of course free, so bring a friend or two or three!
