Canal Comes to Hancock

Join us to learn about the development of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal and the beginning of navigation through Hancock. Hear about the families that occupied the Bowles House, and which ones watched the Canal being built and operated.

Examine two key types of Canal architecture: locks and an aqueduct.



Length of the walk is about ½ mile. Meet on the lawn of the Bowles House.
