"Making Music With What You Got" Exhibit Opening

Come and check out our new exhibit featuring homemade/found object and folk instruments handcrafted by local "Junkyard Luthier" Michael F. Copado. This exhibit will dig into the history of homemade instruments, highlight instruments made from objects found in the streets, alleys, and garage sales of Hamtramck, explore Hamtramck's rich cultural history through traditional instruments, and this exhibit also has an interactive aspect where museum-goers will be able to play select instruments.


Entry to the museum and the event are free. Michael will be giving a presentation on the history of homemade instruments, and we will have local musicians giving you a taste of how these unique instruments sound. There will also be announcements in the near future for homemade instrument workshops for all ages that go along with this exciting exhibit. Please check back for up-to-date event details!
