In the heart of Dublin, a street musician ready to give up on his dreams meets a young woman who believes in his songs — and in him. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship blossoms into something deeper, as music brings them closer and begins to mend their broken hearts.

Winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Once is a breathtaking celebration of love, longing, and the power of song to connect us. Featuring the Oscar-winning hit ‘Falling Slowly’ this achingly beautiful story unfolds with quiet magic and exquisite music.

ARE YOU A STRUMMER OR WARBLER?

We are looking for players to audition – we need actors who can hold a tune or strum a few chords on a guitar. Is that you?

The piece calls for an ensemble who can augment the house band to give us a richer sound. We can cast characters with any playing ability (apart perhaps from the two leads) so do you play the drums, accordion, cello, violin? Can you beat time on a box or tambourine? Better still do you play in an Irish band?

One of the reasons that TTC has shied away from bigger musicals in the past is the perception that we don’t have the right people to make them work! Really? Have you seen any of our pantos? Help prove the doubters wrong – come along and show us what you can do.

Nearly all the music is ensemble based, and being set in Dublin has that classically wonderfully emotive traditional Irish sound to it. Perhaps you know someone who we could contact?

In addition we are looking for players with a Czech accent and/or a Czech voice coach to help us get those accents right. Can you help?

Play readings are not just for prospective actors, but for anyone who would like to join in reading the play – or just listen to it being read. The readings are informal social occasions when the bar is open - we enjoy meeting new people and welcoming them to our club. There is no obligation to audition for the play or even to read – and there’s no need to book, just turn up!
