6th Annual Juneteenth at Fort Monroe

#Juneteenth757 Your presence is humbly requested at our 6th Annual #JuneteenthAtFortMonroe honoring our ancestors.

Fort Monroe is where the first enslaved Africans were brought to in 1619. Therefore, this land holds significant meaning.

At 11 a.m., we will gather at the Fort Monroe Gazebo. We will open with prayers to our ancestors and words of reflection. We will also have an African drum performance. All who would like to speak on the importance of Juneteenth are welcome to.

At noon, we will be holding our annual ancestors' walk where we walk along the Fort Monroe boardwalk. We will have a series of educational signs taking us along the journey our ancestors had to endure from 1619 to 1865

In closing, we will be doing a ceremonial dove release.

We take great pride in being at the forefront of positive change in Virginia.
