Over 25 years the Hampton Beach Sand Sculpting Classic has evolved into one of the ultimate destination events, featuring some of the most talented sand sculptors in the world. It all started 25 years ago with 25 cents when local master sand sculptor Greg Grady was commissioned by the U.S. Mint to create a sand sculpture - a larger than life replica of the newly released New Hampshire quarter - for a statewide celebration. The following year Greg Grady (itsjustsand.com) founded and organized Hampton Beach's first annual Sand Sculpting Competition.
The fun begins when 220 tons of imported local sand is dropped onto the beach. Over the next several days, the "Grady Bunch," along with this year's invitational artists, collaborate to build a 100-ton themed sponsor site to thank those who help make the event possible.
The theme of this year's sponsor site is: SAND SAFARI.
The three day competition runs from June 12-14, 2025. During the competition, ten world-class master sculptors, using nothing but sand, water, and their creativity, transform their allotted 10-ton piles of sand into larger than life sculptures that are sure to "WOW" audiences of all ages!
Saturday, the final day of competition, the sculptors wrap up their entries with their final touches. We encourage you to vote for your favorite from 1-3 p.m., to decide the highly coveted "People's Choice" award, which includes a $1,000 cash prize.
Winners will be announced at the Award Ceremony taking place on the Seashell Stage at 7:30 p.m., followed by special fireworks shoot at 9:30 p.m.
Join us for this free event as we celebrate the artistic excellence and creativity of these gifted artists from around the world during this magical, family-friendly event at the beach. Completed sculptures can be viewed through June 23 and the entire area is illuminated for night viewing.
The event is funded by the taxpayers of the Hampton Beach Village District and Sponsors, in cooperation with The Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce and The NH Division of Parks.
