Although the archipelago of Svalbard is not very large, its mountains and landscapes tell an extraordinary story. The rocks here reveal nearly two billion years of geological history, offering unique insights into the forces that shaped this Arctic region.

We are thrilled to welcome Karsten Piepjohn, a structural geologist with 35 years of Arctic experience, who will guide us through Svalbard’s fascinating geological past – from deep time to its incredible journey across the planet from the South Pole to the North Pole over the last 650 million years.
