What? 4-H Pig Squeal Project, $175 for 2 pigs
Who? Marion County Youth Ages 9-18 (age on 1/1/25) (We can only take 4 youth this year!) This is a multicounty event between Marion, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Lamar, and Pickens Counties.
When? Register by November 7, 2025
Where? Come by the Marion County Extension Office to pay registration and complete required forms
What? This is a learn by doing educational project for any Marion County youth ages 9-18. Youth attend a mandatory in person meeting November 18th to prepare for their pigs (Fayette Co. Extension Office 650 McConnell Loop), pick up 2 50lb pigs on January 19th (location/time TBD), keep a daily record book, feed/raise/train the pigs, complete a home visit with Mrs. Rebecca, attend a showmanship training to learn how to properly show a pig, complete your YQCA training ($12 training fee done on your own BEFORE 1/19/26)complete the show and auction the pig off at the show (keep the other pig at home to process on your own-you can only bring 1 pig to show/auction). Record books are due April 10th.
