Come along on this exciting adventure with Jaime from Together We Forest School & Micheal from Red Deer Adventure for our Forest Explorers Drop-off sessions, specifically for children who are home-educated and flexi-schooled. The full day sessions offer a fantastic opportunity for children to connect with the outdoors, learn valuable skills, and allow their imagination and creativity to flourish in an environment which is safe and supportive.
Children can choose to specifically work their way through the Wild Passport gaining skills such as shelter building and tying knots, fire safety and fire lighting and tool use. These will be recorded in their own Wild Passport which they can take away as evidence of their learning.
Children will be guided through hands-on activities that work on problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience. We will be cooking our lunch together, teaching children how to prepare and cook over an open fire and how to experiment with different cooking techniques as well as those elements of food hygiene.
Sessions are not limited to practical skills, there will be exploration of the outdoor natural space, studying the flora and fauna through the seasons, working on identification techniques and how we live and use the land can effect the world around us.
With all the exploration comes imagination and inspiration, children will be able to craft using natural materials including willow for weaving, natural dyes and paints and whittling along with creating their own nature journals of their time at Forest Explorers.
Sessions are child-led therefore take different directions each week, allowing them to enjoy their own learning experience. Please note this means they may not "produce" a specific item each week as some weeks they may choose to focus on socialisation, team building and teamwork. If you are expecting your child to come home with something each week this may not be the right route for you.
Sessions are led by fully trained and qualified leaders which include Level 3 Forest School Leader, Outdoor and Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, KATTA, Archery GB and Wild Passport Level 3 Practitioner and continued professional development. Both myself and Micheal hold and Enhanced DBS, Safeguarding and Safety training. Combined experience of almost 20 years working with children delivering sessions outdoors. We also like to keep session numbers small to make sure everyones needs are met.
