State of the Black Community: Freedom Week 2025

Newly Elected Mayor to Deliver Keynote Address on Progress & the Path Forward

GULFPORT, MS – June 18, 2025 – As part of Freedom Week 2025, community leaders, residents, and advocates will gather at the Orange Grove Community Center at 6:19 PM for the State of the Black Community address. This pivotal event, themed “Moving Forward Together,” will highlight the progress of the Black community in Gulfport and outline strategic efforts for economic empowerment, civic engagement, and community solidarity.

The evening will feature a keynote address by Gulfport’s newly elected mayor, who will share insights on the city’s commitment to advancing Black economic development, increasing political representation, and fostering a stronger, more unified community. Attendees will also hear from local community leaders who are working to drive meaningful change. The program will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, allowing community members to engage directly with city leadership.
